Fiber proof testers are created to use a set load to Fiber coloring machine in order to test the strength of the spliced fiber. Our fiber proof testers can be purchased in both linear and rotary designs, both for proof and tension testing. Fiber proof testers are available for single mode, multimode, and polarization-maintaining fibers. Choose from dedicated, standalone systems or multi-purpose designs that are also able to stripping, cleaning, cleaving, splicing, or recoating.
Fiber Recoaters with Proof Testers offer easy, integrated answers to recoat and test fusion-spliced fibers. The fiber recoating process restores the buffer coating to a stripped fiber, offering more flexibility than a heat-shrink protection sleeve, enabling that it is handled and coiled without damaging the fusion-spliced section. The integrated linear or rotary proof tester allows users to instantly test a recoated fiber having a pre-determined load and determine the long term longevity of the fiber. Because of the ability to restore a fusion-spliced fiber to near original condition, these systems are ideal for applications like undersea optical fiber cables, submarine communication cabling, fiber lasers, or Distributed Bragg Reflector (DBR) lasers.
The process starts off with the fusion-spliced section of fiber being placed in the midst of the mold assembly (see image to the correct). Once occur position, inserts inside the fiber blocks secure the spliced fiber in position. Recoat material is pumped into the cavity then UV-cured. The recoated fiber can then be tested by pulling on it up to a pre-determined load.
Recoater and Mold Assembly Options – Recoaters can be purchased with either an automated or manual mold assembly. The automated mold assembly features pneumatic control over the mold plates and is optimized for top-volume manufacturing applications. Manual mold assemblies, on the other hand, use hinged mold plates that offer more flexibility and are ideal for low-volume manufacturing or R&D applications. An automatic or manual volumetric dispensing pump and injection product is utilized to inject the recoat material to the mold cavity.
The PTR208 automatic recoater comes standard using a mold assembly for Sheathing line; For the manual recoaters (Item #s PTR206, PTR206B, PTR307, and PTR307B), the mold assembly is sold separately so that customers can select the right mold coating diameter for his or her application. Custom mold coating sizes can be purchased up to Ø900 µm. Pre-installation of the mold assembly at the factory is additionally available. We provide you with both high-index (Item # AB950200) and low-index (Item # PC373) recoat materials to use in these recoaters. Recoaters with manual injection pumps (Item #s PTR206B and PTR307B) are appropriate for both types of recoat material; all other recoaters are appropriate for our prime-index material only. Our manual recoaters with the automatic injection system (Item #s PTR206 and PTR307) can be customized to do business with the low- and-index recoat material; please contact Tech Support to learn more.
Proof Tester Options – The PTR206, PTR206B, and PTR208 Fiber Recoaters have an incorporated linear proof tester, that takes the fiber up to a predetermined load (20 N) then releases it. The linear proof tester uses uojthk same fiber holding blocks because the recoater and so the fiber fails to have to be moved before testing. The PTR307 and PTR307B Fiber Recoaters come with a built-in rotary proof tester, which could perform both proof and tension tests (?89 N). One group of proof test grips is included; replacement proof test grips can be purchased below in packs of 10. Each testing process is fully programmable via the included handset or tablet controller, allowing the consumer to choose parameters such as the load, the pace where the burden is applied, and the hold time.
Inserts for Fiber Holding Blocks – In addition to the above, we offer a variety of inserts to use inside the fiber holding blocks in the recoaters to be able to support a variety of Secondary coating line. For recoaters having a rotary proof tester, the inserts are appropriate for fiber coating diameters in a range from 125 µm to 900 µm. For recoaters with a linear proof tester, the inserts cover a range for fiber coatings from Ø250 µm to Ø900 µm.
